2016 UCUES: Results and Summary

Methodology

UCUES 2016 was administered to all UC Berkeley undergraduate students enrolled in spring semester 2016, excluding students under 18 years of age. From this population of 26,027 enrolled undergraduates, 8,448 (32%) responded to at least one of the items in the first block of questions and 7,515 (29% of those invited) made it through to the end of the survey and submitted it. In addition to the core UCUES items, each student was randomly assigned to one of two topical modules. Those modules were the Academic Experience & Student Engagement module, and the Wild Card module. The Wild Card is a special topics module unique to the Berkeley campus and focused on academic and co-curricular advising in 2016.

This year's survey has four parts:

Part 1: Academic engagement, time use, educational experiences, campus climate, evaluation of the educational experience, and plans & aspirations

Part 2: Graduation and affordability, background & personal characteristics

Part 3: Academic experience, student development and community engagement

Part 4: Academic advising and student support experience, and interpersonal experiences
