Welcome to the Office of Planning & Analysis

At the Office of Planning & Analysis (OPA), our purpose is to create decision support that helps Berkeley better fulfill its teaching, research and public service mission and live up to our campus goal of promoting access and excellence. Our core values that define how we contribute to the campus community include creativity, integrity, collaboration, excellence and stewardship. And our goal is to transform OPA from a standard institutional research office to one of the most trusted, innovative, and influential advisory groups on the campus.

Planning & Analysis Highlights

Berkeley Dashboards

Cal Answers, the new reporting portal for UC Berkeley's Enterprise Data Warehouse, currently provides student and procurement data to campus users.  Over the next year, Cal Answers data will expand to include additional procurement data, along with HR census, student finance, and curriculum data.

Using Cal Answers student data, OPA has published interactive public Berkeley Dashboards to provide information on enrollment, degrees awarded, and graduation rates.

UC Undergraduate Experience Survey (UCUES)

Berkeley strongly encourages undergraduate students to complete their Spring 2012 UCUES.  The campus relies heavily on this data source to provide information to campus units so we can improve the undergraduate student experience.  One example of this work is OPA’s recent briefing note on the Profile and Experiences of New UC Berkeley Undergraduates on Academic Probation.

Annual Financial Report

Berkeley has just released its Annual Financial Report which provides the financial strategies on how the campus is supporting Access and Excellence in challenging financial times.

White House Scorecard

Following this year’s State of the Union, the White House presented a template of a college scorecard to assist prospective students and their families so they could compare colleges using key measure of college affordability and value.  Building on that template, OPA created Berkeley’s scorecard.  This information, coupled with the recent Financial Aid 101 video and Financial Aid Facts, highlight how Berkeley continues to be a good investment for students and their families.
