Other Participating Administrative Units

The following is a list of central campus offices which have policy, operational, or reporting responsibilities for CSIR.

A.  Academic Personnel

The Academic Personnel Office administers the policy which determines “who” may teach and “who” may be an instructor of record for purposes of assigning grades [senate policy 750].

B.  Academic Senate

In relation to CSIR, the Academic Senate's Committee on Course of Instruction (COCI) advises and reviews the selection of instructional format codes, defines policy for creation of cross-listed courses, and presides over the granting of Graduate Student Variances – i.e. job code classifications 2550 and 2551 - which allow graduate students to be instructors of record for upper division courses.

C.  Graduate Division 

The Graduate Division has oversight over policies which govern Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) appointments.

D.  Office of the Registrar: Classroom Scheduling

Classroom Scheduling assists departments in reserving appropriate classroom space which is used as the base for CSIR space utilization data.

E.  Office of the Registrar: E-Grades

[Instructor] Function code is used by the e-Grades process to determine who can submit grades. These function codes are monitored very closely and must adhere to Academic Senate regulations.

F.  Space Management and Capital Projects

Space utilization data collected through CSIR is annually reported to the Office of the President and impacts resource requests and allocations by OP and the campus related to space. Also, see Facilities and Spatial Data for CSIR training document.

G.  CSIR Quality Control Group (CQCG)

This group regularly reviews and assesses contributing data streams and final results of CSIR reporting at the same time it takes into consideration policy and operational concerns.
