Instructional Format-Campus Name Definition
IND Independent Study student-initiated educational activity
LEC Lecture faculty presentation of course materials
DIS Discussion the exchange of opinions or questions on course materials
SEM Seminar student-faculty coverage of course material
LAB Laboratory instructional experiences requiring special laboratory equipment and facilities
FLD Fieldwork instructional activity in non-classroom settings 
STD Studio student practice of studio skills and/or tasks
SUP Supplement extra meetings for the review or elaboration of course materials
DEM Demonstration student observation of an instructional display or performance
COL Colloquium a seminar led by several instructors
CLC Clinic students learning skills by  actual practice involving patients or clients.
INT Internship individual activity in authentic non-academic setting arranged by instructor
GRP Directed Group Study Directed Group Study (courses numbered 98 and 198).
TUT Tutorial supplementary (or remedial) individualized instruction
REC Recitation  oral review of course materials by students
SLF Self-Paced student-paced coverage, usually with individualized attention or assigned course material
WOR Workshop student practice of mathematical skills and/or tasks 
REA Reading the practice of reading in a foreign language
CON Conversation the practice of conversation in a foreign language
VOL Voluntary Class meetings are to review material presented in class lectures or review of laboratory sections.  Unit credit is not awarded.  Attendance is not required. 
SES Session faculty presentation of  course material with further discussion
TVI Televideo;  Televised Instruction Note:These are simulcasts or replays of lectures.  They are being used by Engineering and Letters and Sciences, primarily.  Nutritional Sciences also has a few along with IDS 110.

NEW: Class meetings take the form of students viewing material that has been pre-recorded.  While the course lectures may be conveyed electronically, arrangements are made to assure student-instructor contact.
SET Set-up [used for class scheduling purposes - refers to time prior to a lab session]
WBL Web-Based Lecture Web-based or technologically-mediated activities replacing standard lectures.
WBD Web-Based Discussion Web-based or technologically-mediated activities replacing standard discussion sections.
