An academic teaching unit, a part of the University which offers instruction leading to a degree in arts, letters, or sciences. At Berkeley, by tradition, a college normally includes more than one department of instruction.Nearly all of Berkeley's departments organized under a college structure offer curricula leading to academic degrees at the master's and/or doctoral levels, while only a few offer graduate professional degrees.1In the colleges other than Letters and Science, a substantial number of the bachelor's and master's degrees are "of Science." In the College of Letters and Science, all bachelor's and most of the master's degrees offered solely by the College are "of Arts." Several Master of Science degrees are offered jointly with Letters and Science and other schools or colleges.
