Cal Stats Brochure |
|
(12/15/2006) -
The Office of Planning and Analysis updates Cal Stats, a one-page brochure providing key University statistics and resources once or twice per year. We selected key statistics after reviewing similar peer institution documents and former UC Berkeley and Office of the President publications.
The brochure outlines the breadth of education that Berkeley offers by listing the colleges, schools and degree programs, and our library resources. Student data includes headcounts by gender, ethnicity and student level, and the number of freshmen, transfer and graduate level applicants, admits and enrollees. The brochure compares tuition and financial aid to our private and public peer institutions, as well as freshmen retention and six-year graduation rates. It also shows the number of degrees awarded by level, and the percentage of female and underrepresented degree recipients. There are sections on University endowment, and physical space (land area, housing and building area by use), followed by a brief financial overview. The latter, shown as pie charts of revenues and expenses, follows the GASB accounting standards adopted by the campus in 2000. The prestige of Berkeley’s faculty is represented by the number of members in the National Academies (compared to our peer averages), and the number of current faculty who have received distinguished awards, prizes, and fellowships. Sponsored projects by source of award, and the six largest sponsors highlight the importance of research at Berkeley. The brochure shows staff resources as FTE and headcount by type, followed by the list of campus officers. Finally, we have highlighted several Campus web sites that are other sources of campus information. |
