2012 UCUES: Results and Summary

Methodology

UCUES 2012 was administered to all UC Berkeley undergraduate students enrolled in spring semester 2012, excluding students under 18 years of age. From this population of 25,203 enrolled undergraduates, 9,732 (39%) responded to at least one of the items in the first block of questions and 8,209 (33% of those invited) made it through to the end of the survey and submitted it. Each student was randomly assigned to one of five topical modules (Academic Experience; Civic Engagement; Student Development; Wild Card--a special topics module unique to the Berkeley campus) in addition to the core UCUES items.

This year's survey has three parts:

Part 1:  Academic engagement, time use, academic and personal development, academic engagement, overall satisfaction, and evaluation of the educational experience

Part 2:  Background information

Part 3:  A randomly assigned module emphasizing academic experience, civic engagement, personal development, or items of special interest to the campus
